How social media and AI changed us in 2025: From the desire for visibility to the enchanted circle

Annual analysis from the Founder of Vivendum Ratio Solutions

Dear friends, partners, and all who follow us,

As 2025 draws to a close, I want to personally share an annual analysis with you.
This year was special for us at Vivendum Ratio Solutions – a decade since our founding in 2015, a time filled with growth, projects, lessons, and deep reflection on the world around us.

In 2025, social media and artificial intelligence (AI) surround us more strongly than ever. From Instagram and TikTok, through LinkedIn and new digital media, to AI tools that generate content, automate tasks, and personalize algorithms – all of this is changing us on a personal, professional, and societal level.

But are these changes always for the better? Does chasing recognition through likes, comments, and visibility make us more productive – or push us into an enchanted circle of distractions and FOMO? In this review, I will share how these trends exploit our natural psychological desire to be seen and recognized, look at local examples from Macedonia, and reflect on the risks. Finally, I will tell you where I see our path forward.

The psychological basis – why do we chase visibility?

The desire to be seen, recognized, and valued is fundamental to humans. This is best explained in humanistic psychology, especially through Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. After satisfying basic needs (physiological, safety, love and belonging), come esteem needs – the desire for recognition, status, respect, and attention from others. This is not egoism; it is an evolutionary mechanism that motivates us to grow and fit into the community.

Social media masterfully exploits these needs through psychological tricks:

  • Variable rewards: Unpredictable likes and comments create dopamine “hits,” similar to slot machines.
  • Social proof: Follower and like counts create an illusion of popularity.
  • FOMO (Fear of Missing Out): Notifications and stories keep us afraid of missing something important.
  • Emotional triggers and curiosity: Short videos, filters, and cliffhangers keep us scrolling.

In 2025, AI algorithms make these tricks even more effective – personalized to the point where platforms know better than we do what will keep us online. The result? Greater dependency and impact on mental health.

Local trends – from LinkedIn to conferences and podcasts

This global trend is clearly visible in Macedonia. On LinkedIn, posting pictures, videos, and personal stories is at its peak – video content is growing by over 30% globally, and locally professionals increasingly share about business, innovation, and events. Algorithms favor authentic and original posts, which amplifies the desire for visibility and networking.

In 2025, Macedonia is experiencing a real boom in conferences and events – from annual business and diaspora summits, through entrepreneurship fairs, to workshops on digitalization and sustainable development. These events are organized weekly or monthly, bringing together people from the private and public sectors.

Notably, there is a rise in initiatives aimed at women professionals.

Podcasts have become a powerful tool for companies and individuals – for sharing knowledge, building brand, and leadership. AI tools make the production process easier, but at the same time intensify the need for constant visibility.

New digital media focused on business, marketing, and work relations use AI for personalized news and greater engagement. This local boom shows enormous positive energy for connection and development – but also reflects the global desire for recognition.

Personal analysis – the enchanted circle of seeking recognition

Personally, I notice that we are entering a kind of “madness” where, with the help of AI, we chase recognition – likes, comments, visibility at conferences and podcasts. But where is real productivity? Where is deep learning, critical thinking, and meaningful work?

To be productive and creative, we need focused hours – time without notifications, where we solve complex problems and learn deeply. This is in direct contrast to current trends. On the other hand, the fear of becoming “invisible” if we don’t post or appear at events is increasingly present.

Are we in an enchanted circle where we, as humans, will become the biggest victims of our own instincts for validation?

Studies from 2025 show that excessive use of social media and AI distractions reduces concentration and productivity, while FOMO and the dopamine cycle create addiction. Yes, the risk is real – but the way out exists through conscious choice for deep work and selective use of technology.

Personal message and conclusion – next steps from Vivendum Ratio Solutions

This past year at Vivendum Ratio Solutions was not just a reflection on our ten years of existence – from our founding in 2015, through growth, projects on organizational agility and HR development, to the lessons that shaped us. It was a year of returning to the market with deep trend analysis.

We discovered that technology – especially digitalization and automation – helps with productivity and service improvement. We successfully leveraged technology in our projects, and the results were measured by increased productivity, cost savings, and freed-up time for strategic thinking.

But what remains irreplaceable is human potential. Without real knowledge, experience, desire for continuous learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability, we easily fall into the enchanted circle of distractions and superficiality.

Therefore, in 2026 and all the years ahead, Vivendum Ratio Solutions will focus on knowledge.
Starting January 2026, we are launching a new cycle of training dedicated exclusively to skills and competencies that cannot be replaced by AI – such as deep critical thinking, emotional intelligence, creative leadership, ethical decision-making, and the ability to build real relationships and teams.

We are especially proud of our Center for Professional Development for Managers and Leaders, designed precisely for this era of instability and technological revolution.
Through a combination of intensive workshops, mentoring, and practical projects, the center creates managers and leaders capable of delivering real added value to companies – leading people, making tough decisions in uncertainty, and inspiring innovations that technology alone cannot generate.

This is not just a business strategy – it is a mission. After ten years, we have learned that technology is powerful, but humans create true value. Only through essential knowledge can we be winners – not victims – in this fast revolution.

Thank you for reading this text. What do you think – are you in the enchanted circle or already looking for a way out? Share in the comments or contact us for more information about the new training programs.

And if you don’t read about us on social media for a while – don’t worry, we haven’t disappeared… we’re probably “stuck” in a new project, solving real problems, being creative, and helping our partners build stronger teams and organizations. 😉

Yours,
Natasha Aleksovska
